We made a really good homemade Teriyaki Sauce today. It was the best I've ever had. Much better than any store bought flavor/mix and it was super easy.
Chicken
1/2 cup low sodium soy sauce
3 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
3 cloves mashed garlic or 2 teaspoons minced garlic (we used 2 teaspoons garlic powder)
I threw everything in the crock pot before church on low. We didn't eat right after church so it cooked for about 6 hours.
I think it would be good to shred the chicken and add some veggies to make rice bowls. Maybe next time.
How much chicken? Frozen chicken breasts or fresh chicken pieces? Could you cook them big and then shred before serving. Sounds easy - so I'm interested! (: Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI think I used 4 fresh chicken breasts but there was enough juice that I could have put more. (If you used frozen chicken, I think it would work but you would need to allow longer for it to cook.) I always cut my chicken into thirds or quarters- I think it makes it easier to manage and they are already in correct portions. This time I didn't shred the chicken but I thought about it. If I shredded it I would have done it in the crock pot and then let it cook for about 30 more minutes to soak up more of the juice.
